The largest buyer of Robusta coffee in Vietnam is the Nestle Group

Under Vietnam's Doi Moi policy, the Vietnamese government positioned coffee as a major agricultural export.
Robusta was selected for the cultivation plan.
Robusta is resistant to pests and diseases and is cultivated primarily in the central highlands of Dak Lak Province, where the climate and growing conditions are well suited.
Arabica and Robusta

Coffee cultivation in Vietnam originally began during the French colonial period in the late 19th century, when Arabica was introduced.
However, production did not increase significantly at the time.
Perhaps Robusta is better suited to Vietnam's climate and growing conditions.
Robusta is high in caffeine and has a bitter, astringent, and earthy flavor.
It is mainly used as an ingredient in instant coffee and coffee blends.
The Nestlé Group is Vietnam's largest buyer, accounting for 20-25% of Vietnam's total coffee production annually.
Recently, Nestlé is investing $175 million in a factory in Tri An, Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam, from 2024 to 2025.
The factory is the only one capable of producing all brands of Nescafé, Nescafé Dolce Gusto, Nespresso, Blue Bottle and Starbucks.
