The emergence of canned coffee was a symbol of the period of rapid economic growth

Canned coffee is a standard item in drink vending machines.
While the brands stocked vary depending on the vending machine, most brands have canned coffee.
Even if they don't carry cola, canned coffee is often available.

Coffee manufacturers began developing canned coffee commercially in the 1950s. There was likely demand for coffee that could be stored for a long time and enjoyed easily at any time.

In 1958, there was an article reporting that Osaka-based Toyama Foods was planning to ship a canned coffee called Diamond Coffee, but there seems to be no record of it actually being shipped.

Also, in 1959, Meiji Seika tested a canned coffee called Coffee Drinks in the Kanto region, but it seems that sales were discontinued due to a problem with the canning technology at the time, where the coffee corroded the can.

In 1965, Mira Coffee successfully commercialized the world's first canned coffee in a specially processed steel can. It was sold at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi, as well as at department stores and Japanese National Railways (now JR) kiosks across the country.
Then in 1969, Japan's Ueshima Coffee (now UCC Ueshima Coffee) released UCC Coffee with Milk.
It was sold in vending machines at the 1970 Osaka Expo and became a huge hit.
I think the development and commercialization of canned coffee is one of the symbols of the period of high economic growth.
